Sensors & actuators

A sensor value is useful only if it measures the right quantity under the actual operating conditions. An actuator likewise needs to match its signal and task. For new measuring points, replacement components or unclear feedback, NOVALUX structures your enquiry around the functional chain: process, component, electrical signal and controller interpretation.

Who is this service for?

  • Maintenance teams facing unclear or failing signals
  • Operators replacing components
  • Manufacturers adding acquisition points

Possible scope of work

  • Describe the measurement or switching task and environmental conditions
  • Match power supply, signal type and controller input or output
  • Document signal allocation and agreed functional checks

What you receive

  • A bounded component and signal task
  • Traceable allocation of the connections examined
  • Agreed setting records and verification results

From enquiry to handover

  1. Establish the function

The measured quantity or intended actuation is clarified. An intermittent signal is considered alongside the operating conditions at the time of the fault.

  2. Assess compatibility

The electrical interface, installation environment and existing signal processing are considered together. Similar shapes or connectors do not establish compatibility.

  3. Verify the response

The agreed check follows the signal to its intended display or response. Any intervention in the process requires agreed test conditions.

What we need for your quotation

  • Device identifiers and data sheets
  • Signal or circuit diagram
  • Description of the medium, environment and observed behaviour

Frequently asked questions

Can a sensor be replaced with a similar model?

Only after comparing the function and interfaces. Range, signal behaviour, installation requirements and controller interpretation may differ despite a similar appearance.

Does an incorrect display always mean a failed sensor?

No. The cause may also be the supply, wiring, configuration or signal processing. Investigation should therefore cover the agreed signal path.

Are measured values calibrated?

Functional verification is not automatically calibration. Required accuracy, reference methods and supporting evidence must be agreed as a separate scope.
