SCADA systems

SCADA brings together equipment states, alarms and historical values across plant areas. Its value lies in a clear overview and traceable events, rather than a large number of screens. Your enquiry to NOVALUX therefore starts with the monitoring task, existing controllers and required availability before a particular system solution is scoped.

Who is this service for?

  • Operators of multiple connected plant areas
  • Technical control rooms and operations managers
  • Businesses needing alarm or value histories

Possible scope of work

  • Structure plant overviews and state models
  • Define alarm presentation and historical data for the project
  • Agree user roles, data connections and operating conditions

What you receive

  • A defined SCADA functional scope
  • Described sources and data freshness requirements
  • Agreed handover records and test scenarios

From enquiry to handover

  1. Define the monitoring objective

Which equipment should be visible and which decisions should the overview support? Local machine operation is distinguished from supervisory monitoring.

  2. Review the platform and data

Existing licences, supported interfaces and accessible signals determine the options. Timestamps and storage need to support the intended analysis.

  3. Agree operational responsibilities

Ownership of backups, user administration and incident handling is recorded. Communication loss and stale values are treated as distinct states.

What we need for your quotation

  • Existing systems and licences
  • Controllers to be connected
  • User numbers, history requirements and operating hours

Frequently asked questions

Is SCADA the same as a dashboard?

Not necessarily. SCADA can combine equipment states, events and possibly operator actions more broadly. A dashboard often focuses on selected information from existing sources.

Are new licences always required?

That depends on the existing system and extension scope. Potential licensing and operating costs must be clarified transparently before a decision.

Can SCADA replace a local controller?

That is not assumed in the design. Time-critical machine logic and safety functions need their own assessment; supervisory monitoring serves a different purpose.
