Machine data acquisition

Whether the goal is runtime, unit count or equipment status, reliable analysis begins with clearly described data points. Machine data acquisition establishes what information equipment can actually provide and how it relates to time. NOVALUX is your contact for a bounded acquisition project that considers usable data quality and production operations together from the beginning.

Who is this service for?

  • Businesses without consistent machine data
  • Production managers relying on manual records
  • Project leads preparing monitoring systems

Possible scope of work

  • Identify available signals and data sources
  • Define data points, units and time references
  • Agree collection intervals, outage handling and quality indicators

What you receive

  • A data-point list with understandable meanings
  • A described acquisition route and ownership
  • Agreed sample checks for plausibility

From enquiry to handover

  1. Define the question

The operational question comes first. It determines which signals are necessary and which information would add effort without helping the decision.

  2. Review the source

Existing controller values, counters or approved interfaces are assessed for suitability. Access must be compatible with site requirements.

  3. Compare captured values

Sample records are checked against actual equipment states. Missing values, restarts and counter resets receive explicit rules rather than silently appearing as normal operation.

What we need for your quotation

  • Equipment list and existing interfaces
  • Required data points and intended use
  • Sample records or existing manual reports

Frequently asked questions

Can older machines be connected?

Possibly through existing signals or additional acquisition methods. Technical options and permitted interventions need to be assessed for the particular machine.

How frequently should values be collected?

That depends on the question and source. A faster interval does not automatically provide more value and may place unnecessary load on systems.

Are all stoppages automatically understandable?

No. The absence of a running signal does not explain the reason. Downtime causes may need further signals or an agreed manual classification process.
